Wedding Music - The Wedding Prelude Music

The wedding prelude music is the music that sets the mood for the rest of the ceremony to come. The music should be positive, uplifting and joyous. The weddingpreludemusic is played while guests congregate in the church whilst waiting for the bride to arrive. Unless you have particular music in mind, the organist will usually play a selection that they know well while your guests assemble.

Some popular wedding prelude music:

Ave Maria by J.S. Bach/Gounod*
Ave Maria by Franz Schubert
Canon in D by J. Pachelbel **
Greensleeves*** by Williams
Holsworthy Church Bells by S.S. Wesley
Jesu Joy of Man's Desiring by J.S. Bach
Nimrod - Enigma Variations (Variation 9) by Elgar
Sheep May Safely Graze (Cantata No.208) by J.S. Bach
The Swan (Le Cygne ) by Camille Saint-Saens
Voi che Sapete by Mozart

*One of the most Popular Traditional settings of "Ave Maria", arranged by Gounod on the 1st Prelude of the Well Tempered Klavier by J.S. Bach. For Higher & Lower settings.

**This canon (in the older sense of the word meaning a repeating ground bass with variations) is a well-known work available with many arrangements for a variety of ensembles.
